Islas De Cartagena
Cartagena is one of the destinations that has an extensive list of attractions and places to visit and enjoy. you can live all kinds of tourism: from the most pleasant and relaxing, to adventure and adrenaline.
Around the city there are islands that have history, beauty, tranquility and much more. Meet some of them:
Rosario Islands
This famous archipelago consisting of 27 islands, islets and cays of different sizes, is approximately 35 kilometers from Cartagena; visitors can get there in boats that are in the dock of the Pegasos.
The place is known for its white sand beaches and crystal clear waters perfect to enjoy the sun and sea, in an atmosphere of tranquility. You can also water activities like snorkeling, diving and jet skiing.
Among the points of interest that should be highlighted is the Oceanarium Rosario Islands in Pajares Island, where tourists can see some marine animals such as sharks and dolphins cat, doing different stunts and interacting with a trainer. There, there is a museum with other species: sponges, sea horses, molluscs, crustaceans and reptiles, among others.
This visit can be made in a day, taking a tour from Cartagena. However, in Islas del Rosario there are several hotels that have everything you need to stay and have a placid stay.
Baru island
This is a huge island has to offer excellent beaches, with white sand and blue-green sea. Here visitors can relax and enjoy this paradise, either taking a sunbath, doing water sports or relishing fresh seafood.
The most recognized parts of the island are: Playa Blanca, Punta Iguana, Puerto Naito, the Playita Cholon, Playita de los Muertos and Playa del Bobo. In each of them there are kiosks where they sell all kinds of food and beverages, so as not to leave the place at any time.
Tierra Bomba Island
Just 15 minutes by boat from Cartagena, is this beautiful Caribbean island. Land pump has a coastline of about 43 kilometers, within which tourists can find different places to spend the day quietly.
The island also is the Castle of San Fernando de Bocachica, which was built in the channel of the same name, when this is enabled for entry of vessels. Inside there was powder magazines for guns, chapel, hospital and headquarters officers.
A major attraction of the place, in addition to its landscape are its artisans are carving daily shells and coral. All products can be converted into a nice touch to a gift or simply to keep as a souvenir.

Islands of San Bernardo
Much farther south of Islas del Rosario is the archipelago of San Bernardo, which also has beautiful beaches and several lodging options by the sea; nearby, on another island there is a small fishing village that can be visited.
The archipelago is located on the outskirts of the Gulf of Morrosquillo, compared to Tolu and Covenas and make 10 small islands (Boqueron, Cabruna, Palma, Mangle, Panda, Ceicen, Tintipán, Islote, Múcura and Wonder) that originated in reef complex.
San Bernardo Islands
just protrude from the sea and are covered mainly by mangroves and lush vegetation to which coconut palms and grasses were introduced.
